Bringing Christ's Love to Life
Our Reason for Existence
Sunday morning worship is March 18 at 9 and 11am. Communion happens every Sunday and we welcome everyone to the table. Seriously. Everyone.
Wednesday Lenten worship, is March 21 at noon and 7:00pm and continues our study of We Are Lutheran and what that means. Both noon and 7:00pm services will be about 45 minutes long and if you come at noon and need to leave to get back to work, that's cool with us.
A snippet from Sunday's sermon:
It’s the age old problem rearing it’s ugly head again. What to do about crowds when the crowd takes on a groupthink kind of mindset and seeks for more and more retribution and vengeance over some real or perceived wrongdoing. Facts begin to matter less and less as the intensity of the crowds increases more and more.
I’m not sure Jesus liked crowds very much. Seems to me that most of his time was spent in smaller groups, though he did manage to feed 5,000 once and 4,000 another time. Other than that I can’t think of too many times Jesus was doing things in a large group. Most of his ministry and outreach that we know about was done with individuals and small groups. You know, in settings where you could have actual conversations where people listened to one another and learned from one another.
Meanwhile, some questions to consider for Sunday:
Can you name any recent crowd based feeding frenzies?
How do you deal with crowd based frenzy, whether in person or online?
How do you react to a perceived or real wrongdoing?
What’s your preferred way to calm a crowd?
